Is it safe to say that thus far the Obama administration has been a continuance of the previous administration. Obama has been in office for more than one year and has yet to deliver on any of his promises.
1) Here it is nearly nine years since we invaded Afghanistan and Obama thinks he can copy the Bush plan and send a surge in to the war torn nation. Just for the record, we’re not out of Iraq yet, and no U.S. war that lasted for more than five years has ended in our favor. I think it is past time for us to pack-up our tents and get the hell out of there. Those people are going to view us as occupiers rather than liberators if we continue to stay. And whether anyone wants to admit it, or not, occupying Middle Eastern nations is one of the major reasons we were targeted for attack on 9/11.
2) Closing Gitmo. One of the first orders he submitted after taking office was to close the prison at Gitmo. The prison was set to be closed within one year, and as of today, is still open for business. Not only is the prison still open for business, but the administration is involved in a bitter dispute about just where these prisoners should be held and just where they should be charged for their crimes.
3) Ending the War in Iraq. Obama had first promised to make leaving Iraq a #1 priority, but after the issue of leaving Iraq fell in popularity he decided to back the Bush administration’s plan to withdraw by this summer.
4) Provide tax cuts for the middle-class. Obama has talked a good game about cutting taxes for those who earn less that $250k per year, but in reality, his spending projects spell nothing but increased taxes, increased debt, and increased inflation. Oh, he may cut the withholding, or even the rate, but he cannot stop inflation from causing the cost of living to increase. And if he does really raise taxes on the wealthy, which I doubt he will, it will only lead to further losses in the market and the private sector employment.
And if this wasn’t enough Obama is still trying to saddle us with his government run healthcare option, and yet another stimulus.
Why does Washington always respond to a problem by spending more money and growing government? Could it be that they are not truly concerned with solving problems, but rather with creating more?
